Stress is unavoidable in life. I was almost relieved to hear this and let it sink into my adult brain. I had thought it was just me! Then I found, after practicing mindfulness regularly, I began to manage stress better.
After a lifetime in Massachusetts, I moved to California, with my daughter, in 2004. I have a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology and worked in that field for many years. I was working as a clinical counselor and supervisor in addiction treatment when I took my first 8 week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction class in 2008. That changed everything! The mindfulness message is so relevant and universal and valuable to wellbeing. It made me want to learn how to share this lifestyle with others. I have engaged in many teacher trainings with Bob Stahl and Jon Kabat-Zinn to be qualified to teach MBSR, this gold standard of all mindfulness classes.
